This afternoon while crews were enjoying the nice afternoon weather the Full assignment was struck out for a reported Gas Leak in Glenolden. The incident reported in the 300 block of S Chester Pike brought up Companies 05 (Glenolden), 09 (Sharon Hill), and 01 (Folcroft) as well as EMS units. Early in the morning around 4:30am Engine 09-2 was dispatched to relocate to Station 71 (Chester Heights) for a cover up. Engine 9-2 with 7 from the overnight crew quickly marked up leaving an additional crew back at the station to staff an additional Engine. This afternoon crews were alerted for a reported CO Alarm activation on Garvin Blvd, Sharon Hill. On the ticket was Company 9 and Mercy EMS units. Engine 9-2 and 9-1 quickly made the response along with Chief 9 (Benecke). A total of 11 firefighters operated on scene, utilizing Multi Gas meters to determine the source of the alarm was actually the low battery alarm. Around 5:30am the First Due Box assignment was rung out for 122 Reese St, Sharon Hill for a reported Dwelling fire with Entrapment. After the annual 4th of July Parade Company 9 hosted the first Fourth of July Big Three BBQ which consisted of Companies 09 (Sharon Hill), 05 (Glenolden), and 01 (Folcroft). Also in attendance was the Hog Island Mummers who participated in the Parade. Crews and Families enjoyed food, drinks, and the fun of watching the little and big kids play in the Moon Bounce. The Phrase "The Big Three" refers to the Glenolden (05), Folcroft (01), and Sharon Hill (09) Fire Companies. All Three Companies work together to train and respond to emergencies together as a collective professional department despite being three seperate organizations.
