Engine Co. runs 2 alarm Blaze in Yeadon - Apr 1, 2008

Crews opening up

Shortly before 10am companies were dispatched to the 600 block of Penn St, Yeadon for a Building fire, shortly after arrival crews found a working fire on the 2nd floor and added us for the Rapid Intervention Team. Engine9-2 with 6 quickly hit the streets for the assignment and arrived on scene. Crews were quickly pulled from the RIT assignment to go into service due to a need for manpower to fight the fire as Engine9-1 was assigned to take the RIT assignment over. Crews split with 3 men going to the interior to search for fire on the 3rd floor and the others heading to the roof to open up. The crew on the 3rd floor quickly found deteriorating conditions and requested a handline and quickly found fire running the roof and walls. Once the line was in place crews made several attempts to get to the seat of the fire on the 3rd floor but due to debris just couldn't get to the seat and crews were evacuated shortly after. Once all crews were accounted for crews re-entered the structure this time with much needed manpower and quickly got to the seat of the fire with a coordinated attack with crews on the outside who were opening up roofs, walls and soffits to allow crews to find all the pockets of fire. Crews were on scene for several hours with extensive overhaul due to a large amount of debris.
